Access to the Criterium Track for Blokarts.
Since I first heard about a criterium track (that’s a bike track that resembles a roadway for distance racing) being built in Dubbo, I have been really keen to piggy back this facility for the purpose of sailing our Blokarts.
Many obstacles had to be overcome, but now I have been advised that the track is available to the public (that’s you) when ever there is NOT an official cycling event taking place.
After the track was completed and opened on 4th March, 2020 (at least one good thing to happen this year), a prolonged process of selling the idea of land sailing as a complimentary sport to cycling began. The first job was to “sell” the idea to the Dubbo cycling fraternity and then find our when sailors could access it.
So if you intend to make use of this great spot for sailing, then make sure you check the available times by clicking here to see the DRC events calendar.
Access to the track can be found at 88 River St, Dubbo just before the Charles Sturt University dental clinic.
Should you need vehicular access due to disabilities, the phone number for Macquarie Alarms is on the gate to arrange entry. All of the rest of us able bodied sailors will have to man handle our craft through the personal access gateway (you’ll understand when you get there). The track is about 300m from the front gate.
